Bearings are key components of ships, with their core applications concentrated in three major systems: In the power system, the main engine (such as a diesel engine) relies on sliding bearings to support the crankshaft, while the tail shaft (connected to the propeller) uses water-lubricated or oil-lubricated bearings to resist seawater corrosion, and the intermediate shaft uses self-aligning roller bearings to compensate for installation deviations; in the transmission and auxiliary system, gearboxes transmit power through tapered roller bearings, while deep groove ball bearings are commonly used in equipment such as generators, pumps, and fans, and high-speed angular contact ball bearings are adapted for compressors; in terms of steering and deck machinery, the steering gear system relies on thrust bearings to withstand the resistance of the rudder blade, ensuring flexible ship maneuvering.
